Casa de Praia, completed in 2020 in Cape Elizabeth, ME, is a 4950 SF home designed to maximize panoramic water views near the iconic Two Lights lighthouse. The project features an elevated living level, incorporating indoor and outdoor spaces with planted terraces and decks.
Elevated Living With Enduring Materials
The design utilized an “upside-down” approach, placing the primary living spaces on an elevated level to capture expansive views. Durable, low-maintenance materials like corten steel and ipe were selected for their ability to age gracefully while minimizing upkeep. This thoughtful choice of materials and design ensures the home remains visually striking and functional over time.
The Results
Casa de Praia stands as a testament to innovative design, offering sweeping water views from its elevated living spaces. The use of naturally aging materials like corten steel and ipe adds to the home’s enduring appeal, providing a beautiful and low-maintenance environment that harmonizes with its coastal setting.
