Rustic Boathouse With Functional Elegance

The structure needed to provide slips and cover for four small fishing canoes, a utility boat, and equipment, as well as a versatile docking point for a floatplane.

In order to blend in with the rustic nature of the other structures of the camp, the boathouse was constructed entirely out of locally harvested logs and rough-sawn timbers. The support posts were fitted and assembled in a very tailored but organic fashion, and wrapped in rugged, hand-forged steel bands.

The Results

The completed boathouse and dock seamlessly blend with the rustic surroundings of the traditional fishing camp. Constructed from locally harvested logs and rough-sawn timbers, the structure provides a natural, durable shelter for fishing canoes, a utility boat, and equipment. The tailored yet organic assembly of the support posts, wrapped in hand-forged steel bands, adds both strength and aesthetic appeal. The boathouse serves as a versatile gateway, accommodating the camp’s needs while maintaining the camp’s harmonious connection with the pristine northern wilderness.
