OVERVIEW

Otter Pt: House, completed in 2020, features a unique design where the traditional floor plan was "exploded" into multiple buildings connected by breezeways and boardwalks. The central pod serves as the social hub, containing the living, dining, and kitchen areas, creating a dynamic and open living environment.

Creative Layout & Connected Spaces

The design involved dividing the house into separate structures, each connected by breezeways and boardwalks, with the central pod as the main gathering space. Corten steel, white cedar boarding, and planted roofs were used to create a cohesive aesthetic that blends with the natural surroundings, ensuring durability and a low-maintenance finish. The entry building complements this setup, providing a welcoming approach to the home’s unique layout.

The Results

The 2020 Otter Pt: House successfully redefines traditional living spaces by distributing them across multiple connected buildings. The use of durable materials like corten steel and white cedar, along with planted roofs, results in a harmonious, low-maintenance design that enhances the natural beauty of the site while offering a functional and inviting social hub.
